We use Copper conductor that are made of single piece of metal. It is tougher than a stranded conductor, but rigid and less flexible than a stranded conductor.
The term spline comes from the flexible. The spline is being used to reduce cross-talk and interference between the copper conductors. Another benefit of Cat6 is that it supports much faster data throughout.
Ripcord is used to cut thru the jacket/casing of the wire which is called plenum jacket so you don't have to use a knife.
